Alliance is a Live Action Roleplaying Game set in the world of Fortannis, where players can live out adventures of daring and intrigue. Each game is run by a team of talented individuals who set the stage for this medieval world of magic and excitement. Over the course of a day-long or weekend event, players use both their imagination and real-world substitutes for weapons and armor to take on the role of a character in the game. These characters grow as they are played, and over the course of days and years gain new powers and abilities to go along with the friends and enemies they might encounter. The world is open to whatever a player can imagine. There are no restrictions on whether a character must be good or evil, and every character will face dilemmas to which they must invent their own answers. To deal with these problems, characters can specialize in anything from spells to devious traps. Their choices have long-term ramifications and consequences in the game, affecting the ways by which they overcome obstacles and create their own story. Opportunities abound for all players. Those who chose the life of a warrior might train with weapons to learn how best to counter an enemy's attack, while a merchant would instead spend their time making contacts and contracts to expand their wealth. One character might choose to use their knowledge to help defend a village against enemy attack by assassinating an evil general, while another might not be so altruistic and instead work with the invaders to overthrow the townsfolk and plunder their treasure. Every choice is up to the players to make their own decisions and help craft the story over time. The game itself is played through understanding of a basic rulebook,
which explains how safe, padded weapon substitutes are used to reenact medieval weapon fights with speed and skill. The rules also tell how magic and alchemy work, with small beanbags representing spells and supernatural abilities. Players put on medieval clothing and masks or makeup to represent the strange abilities and appearance of their characters, while a team of monsters is equipped with costumes and gear
